Some of those hooks may receive extra arguments when executed. For instance, the corresponding document ID is passed to shell\_hook\_on\_doc\_add, shell\_hook\_on\_doc\_del, and shell\_hook\_on\_doc\_upd.

It is possible to have custom commands executed when some events happen. Those hook can only be set using the command line interface, but they will be executed when using the GTK interface too.
